Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid

What is hyaluronic acid ?

It is an organic chemical compound, a polysaccharide from the glycosaminoglycan group. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that naturally occurs in the human body in the form of the sodium salt (sodium hyaluronate). It is found in the highest concentration in the skin, in synovial fluid and in the vitreous humor of the eye. Hyaluronic acid is also a component of body fluids and connective tissue. It is also the building block of the walls of blood vessels.

How is it made?

In the past, animal tissues such as shark skin, cattle eyeballs, and above all rooster combs were the source of hyaluronic acid. Due to the fact that this acid was present in animal material in combination with other biopolymers, it was necessary to use special processes aimed at obtaining pure acid. However, according to research, the hyaluronic acid obtained in this way can sometimes cause allergic reactions. Therefore, currently the main source of hyaluronan are strains of Streptococcus equi. The phenomenon of microbial fermentation is used in its preparation.

What effect does hyaluronic acid have on our skin?

The basic function of hyaluronic acid is water binding. Every day, about 30 percent of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally present in the body, breaks down and is replaced by new acid molecules. However, with age, its amount gradually decreases, which causes the degeneration of the tissues in which it is located. That is why hyaluronic acid deficiencies are more and more often supplemented with external injections, tablets or creams.

Hyaluronic acid in human skin occurs in the form of a biopolymer and together with collagen is its main component. As much as half of hyaluronic acid, which is found in the human body, is located in the dermis and intercellular space. Hyaluronan is responsible for the proper level of skin hydration. One molecule of hyaluronic acid can bind up to 250 molecules of water. When the level of hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases, the collagen fibers degenerate. As a result, the skin dries, slackens and wrinkles appear.

How it works?

  • smoothing out wrinkles and lines,
  • smoothing the skin surface,
  • improving skin elasticity,
  • provides adequate hydration,
  • reducing eye shadows,
  • skin nutrition,
  • acceleration of regenerative processes,
  • general improvement of skin condition.

How to use?

  1. As a stand-alone humidifier

Hyaluronic acid can be used alone. Hyaluronic gel should be applied to wet skin, e.g. face, neck and cleavage. Before applying the gel, you can spray the skin with a hydrolate. With direct application, it is possible to feel a light film on the surface of the skin.

  1. Cream serum

Hyaluronic acid used before applying the cream acts as an express lifting - tightens the skin, smoothes fine wrinkles and unevenness. Due to its hygroscopic properties, it can retain moisture in the skin. It also perfectly prepares the skin to absorb active substances from the cream. Apply a few drops of pure hyaluronic gel to dry, cleansed face and then apply a cream or natural oil. Use this treatment in the morning and evening.

  1. Lifting eye serum

Hyaluronic acid is perfect as a lifting eye serum thanks to its skin tightening properties. Smoothes fine wrinkles and covers the skin with a delicate protective film. It is safe to use around the eyes because it is a physiological substance, also naturally found in the eye.

  1. Cream addition

You can also combine hyaluronic acid with your favorite cream - it's best to mix a portion of the cream and a few drops of HA on your hand, just before applying it on your face. Hyaluronic acid will improve the penetration of active substances, increase hydration and smooth the skin.

  1. Addition to the face tonic

Hyaluronic acid added to the tonic will increase its moisturizing properties, improve the action of active ingredients and give a pleasant, silky texture. You can add some hyaluronic gel to the bottle with the tonic. After adding HA, shake the bottle and apply tonic as usual.

  1. Face oil serum

Hyaluronic gel in combination with pure vegetable oil is one of the best and completely natural moisturizing and nutritional treatments. Mix a few drops of HA and selected oil in your hand (e.g. argan, almond, avocado or jojoba) and apply to cleansed face.

  1. Serum for dry, split ends

A blend of your favorite oil and hyaluronic acid is also great as a smoothing and moisturizing agent for the ends of your hair. Such serum will soften dry tips and protect them from mechanical damage. Mix a few drops of oil and HA in your hand and apply to dry or damp hair tips.

  1. Addition to shampoos, conditioners, hair masks

Hair will love hyaluronic acid added to shampoos or conditioners. Significantly strengthens the caring properties of these cosmetics, gives the effect of smooth and slippery hair, makes the hair shine. Add a portion of hyaluronic gel to the shampoo or conditioner just before use, mix in the palm of your hand and apply the product as usual.

  1. Moisturising scalp serum

It is an excellent soothing agent when the scalp is irritated by the sun, strong shampoos or hairdressing such as dyeing, brightening or drying with hot air. HA will soothe and moisturize the scalp, and strengthen hair roots. In addition, it will not burden the hairstyle, and even slightly lift the hair at the roots. Apply hyaluronic gel directly to the scalp with your fingers or using a dispenser bottle.

  1. Addition to clay masks

You can use hyaluronic gel instead of water when preparing clay masks. Thanks to this, the mask will have a more pleasant, creamy consistency, and will also work more effectively - HA will strengthen the effectiveness of the substances contained in clay, and will moisturize the skin.
